NANOPARTICLES for sensors

Nanoparticles for sensing technology

Liquid and gas sensors utilizing nanoparticulate films leverage the unique properties of nanoparticles, like high surface area and tunable electronic properties, to detect and measure liquid-related parameters, such as concentration, presence, or specific chemical interactions and have many advantages when compared to conventional chemical sensors.

The use of Surface-enhanced raman spectroscopy with the addition of silver nanoparticle films is also employed for the improved efficiency of detection.

The standard advantages of nanoparticlate films also apply when considering sensing technology, in that due to the reduction in mass loading, the material consumption is vastly reduced, which is particularly useful when considering rare earth metals and the surface areas of each film is many orders of magnitude more reactive, when compared to a standard film of bulk material.
